Climate, Justice and Coffee

What is the link between climate, justice and coffee? What is the story behind the everyday morning beverage we drink? In this presentation given to students at Climatebase, a climate career accelerator, I dive into how coffee can help teach us about some of the most pressing systemic issues we face today. The presentation will touch upon topics such as climate resilience,
climate justice and colonial legacy in the coffee supply chain. It also encourages us to try to reimagine different futures for the coffee system given what we know now to propel us into action to help drive the future we want. By the end of the presentation, students will have hopefully gained more knowledge on the history of the coffee industry and how focusing on our agency to build the future we want is the way we avoid fatalism and transmute hopelessness to change.
